Destination ... PEI
Destination ... PEI
woke at 7:30 to a
beautiful morning with not a cloud in the sky
after breakfast we booked a KOA campsite near Charlottetown for the next three days
dad discovered we had a flat tire on the trailer so he had a job to do
showers in the trailer then on the road again at 11:30

showers in the trailer then on the road again at 11:30
before we left town though I needed to go across the
street and take some
pictures of the giant lobster they had at the information
centre
just before I was about to take my pictures three Chinese tour buses
pulled
up and you know what that means
I could not get any pictures until they
left
I patiently waited my turn and finally got the pictures
on to
Sobey's for some groceries before we headed to Confederation Bridge
After our visit to this quaint maritime town of Cambellton, N.B....Noah and Connor Barthe died after an African rock python
escaped its enclosure in an apartment, slithered through a ventilation
system above and fell through a ceiling into the living room where they
slept. Very sad for this small community.
The Confederation Bridge is a bridge spanning the Abegweit Passage of Northumberland Strait,
linking Prince Edward Island with mainland New Brunswick
we reach the bridge at about 230
stop for some photos then on we go over the bridge
very
impressive with fantastic views of PEI
I thought New Brunswick was pretty but
it has nothing on PEI
rolling hills, farmlands, with fields and fields of potatoes
some farmers sell them on
the roadside so we plan on buying some tomorrow
we reach our campsite about 5
o'clock
it is a beautiful site on the banks of the West River with a great view
of the water
Date 31 August 1, 2013
Rabbits rabbits rabbits
{if you dont know what rabbits, rabbits, rabbits means it is one variant of a common British superstition
which must be the first words spoken at the beggining of each month for good luck
we all say it in honour of my dear mum}
up at 7:30 to a gorgeous sunny morning
after breakfast and clean up we set out to explore one of
the scenic drives
we've chosen Points East Coastal Drive
after a wrong turn or two we finally got on the drive around noon
past a lot of very small farming towns and the favourite crop of choice is
yes you guessed it......potatoes

but beautiful views along the way
as we follow the coast again all the houses have immaculately manicured lawns and gardens
many of the houses are small but they all have what seems like at least an acre or two of land
again everyone has a ride on lawnmower
the soil PEI is red so I went on line today and found out that the
redness
is a result of very high rust content
Dad thinks that is why the potatoes grow so well here

when we reach the top of the island or East Point, we
stop for a snack and picture taking
of course the gift shop too
the traffic is very light on our drive today
as time was getting on we opted to skip the last part of the Ocean Drive
and took a much faster route back home
supper was kebabs on the barbecue and PEI new potatoes
a little sit out into bed about 10
thanks for following along
