Day 32 & 33 ... peanuts to us

Day 32 Friday, August 2, 2013 - 23 degrees

woke at 8 to a very nice morning
Dad spent most of the morning texting copious amounts of journal pages to
Cheryl {aka 'the anonymous scribe' }

I had scouted out a Greyline city bus tour that left the information center at 1pm
but when we got there about 12:30 we couldn't find a parking space
by the time we found a spot at HMCS Charlottetown Navy Base and walked back
to the info centre, we saw the bus tour leave
Oh well Plan B

that was the last tour of the day so instead we did a horse drawn carriage tour of the city
we traveled through the downtown area of Charlottetown which isn't very big
population 35,000
we passed by a house that was for sale
the tour guide said it was on the market for $190,000
this was a beautiful old heritage building that I would image would cost at
least several million in Vancouver
he also said the average house cost is about $150,000
peanuts to us!!

'the anonymous scribe' thinks her parents should purchase said house
for holidaying on the East Coast..... just saying!!

after the tour we walked along the harbour and enjoyed an ice cream
then a wander through a pedestrian only street in the middle of the city
while at the information center earlier I had noticed an interactive display
area about the Charlottetown Conference of 1864

so we jumped at the opportunity and it was very much worth the time
we both learned a lot about the fathers of Confederation that we had
either forgotten or never knew in the first place
it was very informative and well put together and well put together

back at the trailer at about 5:30
dinner was halibut on the inside because there seemed to be a threat of rain
it never did rain so we sat out after dinner for a little while then to bed at 10

 Day 33 Saturday, August 3, 2013 - 22 degrees

Up at 8 to a very nice day
I had heard rain in the night but it had blown over
the plan for today is to the the Green Gables shore scenic drive
after breakfast and some clean up and the booking of the campsite for
tomorrow we are on the road at 11:30
first stop on the scenic drive was to Petland to buy the dreaded pet carrier for the ferry
we were also on the lookout for an electronics store to buy a new adapter to
download pictures from the camera to the iPad as we forgot ours at home
we spot a Future Shop so now we are in business

now on to our tour which takes us along the shore for many miles
short stop at North Rustico Harbour where we enjoyed a hot dog from a small vendor on
the beach {the anonymous scribe' is assuming this meant he was short}

then on to Cavendish where we toured the Anne of Green Gables house and surroundings
very interesting and informative & learnt a lot about the life of Lucy Maude Montgomery
after learning her life story we thought "Anne" might have been modelled after her

again a lot of Chinese tourists so we wait our turn to take the photos

a very beautiful drive along the shore and stop a couple of times to enjoy the sandy the beaches
at a small village called Stanley Bridge I spotted a sign for cooked lobster

so we turned around and secure a couple of great lobsters for dinner tonight
there were already cooked so all we had to do was heat them up

as we are heading back to the campsite a vicious storm hits the highway
and we are almost forced to pull over again
temperature went from 23 degrees to 17 degrees in no time flat

back at the campsite we can also tell the storm hit there
we heated up the lobster and enjoyed a great dinner
some of the shells were hard to break but Dad's trusty old water pump pliers did the trick

Dad's motto: "Don't leave home without them"
{the anonymous scribe' would love to see a picture of this devouring}

Dad played around with the photos from my camera & the iPad for a while
then we finished one of the videos we had brought along

the plan for tomorrow is to leave PEI and head for Baddeck, Nova Scotia
where we booked a campsite for the night in preparation for the ferry to Newfoundland

toodles
S, G & M
