Day 20
Sunday July 21 st
Beautiful sunny morning...on the road about 10 o'clock and
it is 18 degrees
A few observations ......
in some rivers the water colour is chocolate brown
more people
flying the Canadian flag then at home
trees plentiful but not very tall
quite a
lot of abandoned businesses along the highways
thousands of lily pads on the waters close the highway
Tim Hortons everywhere and not a Starbucks to be seen
as a matter fact I think I have seen only one so far
me being a Starbucks fan I will just have to make my own
and it appears we are in Amish country
a lot of road signs warning
drivers to watch for horse and buggies
as I was trying to take a
picture of the sign three horse and buggies
passed by us on the other
side of the street
the Amish live like it is still the 1800s , no
electricity, no motor vehicles etc.
Beautiful scenery today as we travel along the shore of
Lake Huron
we have great cell service now
the terrain is a mixture of farmland
and forest
we arrived at Doug and Louise's at about 2:15
Louise, Glen, & Doug |
Louise, Sheila and Doug |
Louise
fixed us a nice sandwich lunch and after lunch Doug took us
for a short drive around
Azilda which is the small town they actually live in
Doug and Louise have two indoor cats and six feral cats that they feed and care for
this of
course made for a very interesting experience for Missy
she either wanted to
chase them or play with them
I'm not quite sure which but she did take
advantage of eating their food
Louise commented that she might start to meow
we
sat outside and chatted until about seven and then
went in for a nice dinner
Day 21
Monday July 22nd
Destination Ottawa
Up at about 8 o'clock
after breakfast we visited with Doug and Louise reminiscing
I asked Louise if they get many visitors from the west
looks like we were the last to visit three years ago
they gave us some great
tips on how to get to our campsite
with out going through the middle of Ottawa
on the
road about noon
temperature along the way went from 20 to 28
we noticed
more eastern seaboard state license plates
there were many cars parked along the side of the road both east and
west of Sudbury
Louise said they were out there
picking wild blueberries
the road along the way to Ottawa was great at times then would
become very bumpy
came across two roadkill deer and are very thankful that it
wasn't us who hit them
we reached our campsite in Ottawa about 7 o'clock
got set up at camp
dad found out that the campers
beside us were from White rock
they were traveling across Canada as well
had
spaghetti for dinner then tried to sit out for a while but the Mozzies were to
bothersome
we caught up with home through several text messages before calling it a night
