Day 28 Monday, July 29, 2013
Destination New Brunswick
Up at 6:30...quick breakfast and clean up of the camp and on the road
at 8:15
it is raining now but not very cold
we head out east on Highway 20 which
was both good at times and very bumpy at times
the farms are very large as we follow the St. Lawrence
on our left
the road is very wide along this stretch
we were told on one of our
tours that Quebec City is situated where it
is because that is the narrowest section of the St. Lawrence
is because that is the narrowest section of the St. Lawrence
so it was easier to see any enemies coming down the river
one funny thing we've noticed is there are a lot of
Laredo trailers in the East
which is the same trailer that we have but we don't see as many of them at home

It's a busy road this morning
lots of RVs going in the opposite direction heading towards Quebec City
lots of RVs going in the opposite direction heading towards Quebec City
at one point along the way the temperature dipped down to 10 then back up to 16
within a few minutes so the inside of the truck fogged up a couple of times
once we were on highway 132 the road went down to two lanes
all along we saw cute country houses and villages as we head towards Rimouski
each house has a huge (and I do mean huge) woodpile
lunch was enjoyed in the trailer on the side of the road
in Rimouski
which I believe is considered part of the Gaspe Peninsula
all through Quebec we saw quite large groups of people on
three wheel motorcycles
...they look like very fancy machines
...they look like very fancy machines
also most of the
villages through here have a beautiful white church with a steeple
and again, immaculately groomed lawns
and again, immaculately groomed lawns
one section we drove through today reminded us of Manning Park
...very wooded and a river to the right
as we we
crossed into New Brunswick we lost another hour so we now are on Atlantic time
we scouted out the tourist information center in
Cambellton & again received great service and great information
also a booked campsite for tonight a good site...the cheapest one so far at $28 a night

after dinner we started to plan our Maritime section of this trip
but left a couple of days open just in case we have to make some adjustments
the only thing we still have to deal with is the Newfoundland
ferry so we left that for the morning
Day 29 Tuesday, July 30, 2013
well we awoke this morning to very bad weather of thunder
and pouring rain
we called Marine Atlantic and booked the ferry to and from Newfoundland
we are going over on August 5 at 3:30 and coming back on August 13 at 5 o'clock
we had wanted to return on August 10th but there were no berths available

we had wanted to return on August 10th but there were no berths available
because they don't allow animals on the passenger deck
AND 16 Hours was way too long in the trailer alone
we took the only other option which was to put Missy in a room with other pets
we can visit and take her to the washroom from time to time
in order to do that we had to purchase a pet carrying cage
not sure how she's going to like to that

got on the road at 10:45 but with the pouring rain we
couldn't see much
don't really know what the terrain was like
the rain was so bad we had to pull over to the side a couple of times
because we couldn't see the road
surprised to see most of the signage still in French
lunch was just east of Bathurst right on the water & the rain has stopped now
very cute houses and villages right on the waterfront
I had mention the huge wood piles earlier, now I noticed that they
were quite a distance from the houses
don't know why as it seems to me you would want to have them
closer to the house when you needed the wood... but maybe that's just me

the rain started again and we also started to see watch
for moose signs
they are very elusive creatures as we have not seen one of them
yet
we passed through a lovely little town called Caraquet that was founded in
1755
again a lot of cute and sometimes funny houses
some folks like to decorate
the outside and lawn with all kinds of colorful wooden ornaments
most of the
churches along the way had a cemetery attached
also everyone seems to have a
ride on lawnmower
we reached our campsite in the town of Shediac, N.B. at
around 6 PM
after hamburgers for dinner we settled in to watch
the BC Lions versus the Toronto Argonauts
not a good outcome for our team
...the bums
off to bed at 11:30
