Day 26 Saturday, July 27, 2013
not looking so good weather-wise
for the next couple of days
something that we have noticed since we have been
camping in Quebec is that the
campers don't seem
to be as friendly as we have encountered in the other provinces
....I'm just saying
last night we came across the nice couple from White Rock who we had
met in
Ottawa and we seem to be following each other
off we go now to the passenger ferry that will take us
from Levi to Quebec City
it works very well and was only six dollars each
return
we took the funicular up to the information centre where we purchased
our tickets
for the hop on hop off bus and for river cruise which were going to
take tomorrow
in Quebec City there is the upper city and a lower city
the funicular takes you in between the two or you can walk the
stairs
the city is much busier than it was when the girls visited in September
a few years back
We were able to get seats on the upper deck of the
double-decker
sat across from a young couple from Comox who were in the
military
and making a temporary move to Nova Scotia
some streets not accessible on our tour because of the
Celine concert
we love taking bus tour of cities and this one was another great
one
the plains of Abraham |
view heading down the funicular |
the lower city is very colourful and quaint with lots of shops and interesting
dad had french onion soup which was good but not quite as
good as he had in Ottawa
now we have
eaten out three times during our trip
was about 3 o'clock when we finished eating so decided Missy
had been alone long enough
take the ferry back to the trailer
every time we come back Missy greets us with such gusto you
would think we had been gone for days
would think we had been gone for days
we all sit out and have a little rest in our chairs
we
are not hungry so no dinner is needed
happy to get a text from Nicole tonight
then to bed
PS we are still absolutely amazed at the size of some of
the rigs that
are in the campsite and a lot of the people driving them seem to be relatively young

our dear little trailer looks like a baby in comparison but
we appreciate
her very much and she always keeps us warm and dry
Day 27 Saturday, July 28
Up at 7:30... quite a nice morning
the weather network says no rain now but humidity will be
80%
sounds like a muggy day
we left the campsite about 10:15 and took the ferry
across the water then off to the
spot where we are to board our river cruise
boat
quite a good cruise up the St. Lawrence to Montmagny Falls
a unique site in Quebec
about 1 1/2 hr round trip
about 1 1/2 hr round trip
our tour guide was
wearing a costume from the late 1700s
it was a very enjoyable boat ride and we took lots of pictures
it was a very enjoyable boat ride and we took lots of pictures
along
the way they pointed out a ship building
site
a nice island with exclusive living
as well we also past some oil tankers on the St.
Lawrence
their oil comes from Venezuela if you can believe that
Their claim is the fall are higher then Niagara fall but
obvious no where need the size
Quebec is native
word meaning narrow river because the city is
located at the narrowest part of
the St. Laurence
Quebec City from the water |
The tallest
building in Quebec is 31 stories if you look close
you can see it in the
horizon of Quebec City
The Queen of BC |
Chateau Frontenac from the water |
after another late lunch early dinner we were back at the
trailer to relax
after all...we are on vacation
A guy from Abby introduces himself to us at the camp site
after all...we are on vacation
A guy from Abby introduces himself to us at the camp site
they have been at the site for a while because of transmission problems
it is a Ford truck and their are none available in Quebec so
they are shipping one in from Ontario
his option are few so he needs to
wait it out but they gave him a rental
if you are wondering....the third chair on the right is for Missy |
we were assigned site 9 and at first though we felt it was poor then when we saw
40 & 50 ft R
V's packed in we new we had the best
deal of them all
you could see people looking at us and wondering how we pulled
that off
we loved Quebec City but looking forward to New Brunswick
time to get back on the road tomorrowwildlife sighting so far six bears one deer one coyote and two tiny frogs
toodles
